Gene R. ‘Dick’ Finn
Gene R. “Dick” Finn, 96, of Fostoria, died Saturday morning, June 14, 2014, with a dear friend by his side at Fostoria Community Hospital.
He was born Feb. 25, 1918, in Tiffin, to Frederick and Maude Charlotte (Sager) Finn. He married Vera Yuonne Adams Feb. 21, 1941, at Evangelical United Brethren Church in Tiffin, and she preceded him in death on Sept. 3, 2007.
Survivors include a niece, Janiece Hoehn of Florida; a nephew, Willard Smith of Georgia; many more nieces and nephews, and a dear friend, who was like a granddaughter to him, Kari Keiffer.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Burton C. Finn; a sister-in-law, Margaret Finn; and a cousin, Helen Brown.
Dick was a 1937 graduate of Old Fort High School and worked for The Austin Company, steel fabricating division, Cleveland, where he was an accounting manager working in Ontario, Canada, Knoxville and Oak Ridge, Tennessee, Bowling Green, Kentucky and several locations in Medina and Paulding, Ohio, for 36 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the Masonic Blue Lodge No. 77, Eastern Star and Zenobia Shrine, Toledo Chapter.
A memorial service will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH, 44883, (419) 447-2424 with the Rev. James Mussman officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.
There will be no visitation.
