Robert E. ‘Butch’ Yoder

Robert E. “Butch” Yoder, 89, of Kansas, died Wednesday, April 23, 2014, at the Ohio Veterans Home, Sandusky.

He was born March 2, 1925, in Kansas, to Ovid H. and Helen L. (Hedden) Yoder. He married J. “Eileen” McHaffie Sept. 11, 1945, in Fostoria, and she died Feb. 2, 2003.

Butch is survived by two daughters, Sharon (Ellis) Barnett of Plymouth and Eugena (Terry) Wellington of Kansas; a brother, Dale “Buck” Yoder of Kansas; four grandchildren, Robert Wellington and Gary, Dianna and Clay Nye; one great-grandchild, Samantha Nye; and his special friend at the Bettsville gas station.

He also was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Lois “Toots” Feasel and Mary Lou “Sam” Drenning.

Butch retired in 1982 as a welder/fabricator at Basic Stone Quarry, Bettsville, with more than 40 years of service. He was a 1943 graduate of Jackson Liberty High School and a member of Kansas United Methodist Church. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He also was a Kansas volunteer firefighter for more than 30 years and a member of the Quarter Century and Basic Refractions Clubs.

His funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 26, 2014, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, 301 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria, OH 44830, (419) 435-8118, with the Rev. Abe Cramer officiating. Burial will follow at Kansas Cemetery, Kansas.

Visitation will be 2-6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
