Richard H. Smith, 91, of Attica, passed away March 1, 2014, at The Willows at Willard.
He was born Jan. 28, 1923, in Reed Township to Harry P. and Rose (Schreiner) Smith.
Richard served in the US Army. He was retired from Horn’s Crop Service, Bellevue, and was a farmer. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 260, Attica, the former Reed Assumption Church, and St. Gasper del Bufalo Catholic Church.
He is survived by one son, Donald H. Smith of Attica; two daughters, Lucille Phenicie of Attica and Diana (Kim) Olson of Willard; four grandchildren, Katharina Boyer, William McConnell Jr., Justin Wolf, and Scott Olson; three great-grandchildren, Anthony, Nathan, and Jordan Boyer; two sisters, Doris Provenzale and Patricia (John) Mahl and a sister-in-law, Norma Enders.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Velma, whom he married Sept. 3, 1945, at St. Aloysius, Republic; a son, Richard C. Smith; two sisters, Eleanor Pifher and Agnes Bogner; and a son-in-law, Vernon Phenicie.

A funeral Mass is 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, March 5, at St. Gaspar del Bufalo Catholic Church, CR 46, Bellevue. Burial will follow at Reed Assumption Cemetery.
