Pauline F. Zelczak
Pauline F. Zelczak, 88, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday morning, March 23, 2014, at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin.
She was born March 9, 1926, in Jere, W.Va., to Andrew and Annie (Laya) Pawlus. She married Edward J. Zelczak Sr. April 18, 1945, and he preceded her in death.
She is survived by a daughter, Annamarie (Earl Jay) Waller of Findlay; three sons, Edward J. Zelczak Jr., Lt. Col., USMC, Ret., of Honolulu, Hawaii, Theodore “Ted” M. Zelczak of Fremont, and Paul R. (Carol) Zelczak of Dayton; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Theodore, Joseph and Frank Pawlus; and three sisters, Mary Slomo, Virginia Suich and Agnes Kupar.
Pauline was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, and its Altar Rosary Society and Daughters of Isabella. She was a nurse’s assistant at Ruffing Family Care Center, Tiffin, for more than 25 years, retiring in 1996.
Pauline enjoyed handicrafts, gardening, cooking and baking. Her specialty was Polish cooking. She was dedicated to her Catholic faith, which inspired and strengthened her each day. She taught catechism at St. Mary and volunteered for many other activities at the church.
Pauline also provided home care assistance for the elderly for more than 20 years. She enjoyed motor coach tours to casinos. Her No. 1 priority in life was her devotion and love of her family, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Her Mass of Christian burial will begin at 10 a.m. Friday, March 28, 2014, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass. Burial will follow at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin.
Friends may visit and share stories with the family 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, (419) 447-2424.
