Margaret R. ‘Peg’ Aller

Margaret R. “Peg” Aller, age 91, Sycamore, died at 9:20 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 15, 2014, at Fairhaven Community, Upper Sandusky.

She was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Seneca County, to Irvin L. and E. Pearl (Swaisgood) Stickley. She married Franklin “Frank” Aller Sept. 3, 1943, and he died Aug. 29, 2005.

Surviving are the following children, Nancy Bentz and Timothy (Jean) Aller, both of rural Sycamore, and Rodney (Janet) Aller of Lima; 10 grandchildren, Tami (Gregg) Bell, Shelli (Duane) Coldiron, Brett (Melissa) Hecker, Domenic Bentz, Kristi (Jacob) Ward, Robin (Nick) Staib, Erin Castanien, Katie Aller, Sally (Mike) Trowbridge and Elizabeth Aller; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, Hubert G. (Marian) Stickley of rural Tiffin; son-in-law, Robert “Bob” Hecker of Upper Sandusky; and a special friend, James “Jim” Evans of Upper Sandusky.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jane Hecker, who died Jan. 8, 2014,; a son-in-law, Michael Bentz, who died Feb. 10, 1998; and a sister, Carol A. Ward; besides her husband and parents.Margaret was a secretary at the former Sterling Grinding Wheel Co. of Tiffin and at the Hanson Clutch and Machinery Co. of Tiffin before moving to Sycamore, in 1949. She then became secretary to the Superintendent of Mohawk School, a position she held for 25 years. She also then worked part-time for the Chamber of Commerce in Upper Sandusky for seven years.

She was a 1941 graduate of Tiffin Columbian High School, was a member of the Sycamore United Church of Christ, a member of the former Sycamore Little Theatre, member and former officer of the Mohawk Sixty Plus Club, member of the Sycamore American Legion Auxillary Post No. 250, Mohawk Historical Society, former coordinator of the Red Cross bloodmobiles in Sycamore, board member of the Sycamore and Sycamore Township One Fund Drive, former volunteer at Fairhaven Community for 20 years, was assistant leader for Brownie Scouts and 4-H Clubs and also was a former Sunday school teacher. She was a recipient of the Outstanding Senior Citizen of the Year of Wyandot County in 2001, member of the Mohawk Hall of Fame, honorary member of the Mohawk FFA and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan.

Funeral services for Margaret will be at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Robin LaBolt officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 18 ,2014, at the funeral home.
