Norma Jean Cornett

Norma Jean Cornett, 81, of Tiffin went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014, at Mercy Tiffin Hospital. There she was greeted by her husband of 58 years Odis “Toby” Cornett, who passed in March of 2009.

Norma was born May 12, 1932, in Letcher County, Whitesburg, Ky., to James and Lenie (Cook) Halcomb.

She is survived by three children, Timothy (Rose) Cornett of Melmore, Jennifer Davis of Tiffin and Denise (Jeremey) Welch of Lexington, Ky.; five grandchildren, Tim and Joe Cornett, Chris Davis, Mindy Ginnever and Jason Welch; seven great-grandchildren, Kearston, Martina, Jessalynn, Alainna, Austin, Holden Cornett, and Norah Ginnever; sister Lillian Faye Mohr of LaBelle, Fla.; and brother, James Holcomb of Tiffin.

She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two sisters, Ollie Pentz and Emaline Ison; and brother Lenville “Pete” Halcomb.

Norma ttended Eighth Ave. Freewill Baptist Church and worked at Tiffin Developmental Center as a supervisor, retiring after 25 years. She loved to cook and made sure whoever stopped by for a visit was well fed, even if they weren’t hungry!

Her funeral service will be at noon on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014, at Eighth Ave. Freewill Baptist Church, with the Rev. Clifford Tyree and the Rev. Paul Tyree officiating. Burial will follow at Fairmont Cemetery.

Friends may visit with the family from 2-6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 9, 2014, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424 and again from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church on Friday, Jan. 10, 2014.

Memorial contributions may be made to Eighth Ave. Freewill Baptist Church or Adams Township Freewill Baptist Church.
