Joana L. Soule
Joana L. Soule, went home to be with her Lord Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2014.
She was born May 31, 1930, in St. Mary’s, to Lawrence and Ardella Howell Seewer. She married John H. Soule July 8, 1949, in Burgoon, at her parents’ home. They were married 52 years.
They had four children, Karen (David) Havens of Apple Valley, John (Linda) Soule of Lafayette, Ind., Diana (Duane) Edinger of Risingsun and Teresa (David) Moyer of Fostoria. She also was blessed with 10 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Joana was preceded in death by her parents; husband; sister, Juanita Balliett; and great-great-grandson, Braiden Stevens.
Joana attended and graduated from Burgoon schools and worked at retail stores, Buckeye Mart and Fisher’s Big Wheel, Fostoria, for many years. She was very involved in her church, The Girton Church of God, as a Sunday school teacher, VBS director and worked with the youth. She played the piano and organ for more than 50 years. She was a very gifted and artistic person. She enjoyed painting ceramics, crocheting, paper cutting and sewing (doing all of her daughters’ wedding gowns). She wrote poetry and music, which was used at her church, including a Christmas cantata the church performed.
She loved life. Flowers, rainbows, snow scenes, holiday lights, nature, cats, a good book and hot cup of tea, just to name a few. Most of all, she loved her family and cared for them deeply. She prayed for everyone she came in contact with. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. However, she leaves us with an example of how we should live our lives. Her small corner of the world is a better place because she lived there. We will miss you, Mom, but we will see you again. Thanks for being our mom!
Visitation will be 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 5, 2014, at Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, 301 W. Tiffin St., Fostoria.
Her funeral will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at the funeral home with John A. Soule officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery, near Risingsun.
Memorial contributions may be made to Girton Church of God or Gideons.
