Irene Neikirk, 86, of Ashland, passed away Sunday afternoon, Nov. 10, 2013, at Hospice of North Central Ohio.
Mrs. Neikirk was born July 18, 1927, in Attica, to Frank L. and Freeda E. (nee Bathrick) Covert. She married Robert F. Neikirk July 14, 1946, and he preceded her in death April 23, 2000.
She worked in the ophthalmology office of Dr. Paisley as a receptionist for 15 years, retiring in 1996. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Bible study, Share Group, The Christian Women’s Association and a former member of the Altar Guild.
She is survived by two daughters, Karen Ann (Ronald) Strine of North Fort Myers, Fla., and Jerrilyn Kay (Carl) Beasley of Ashland; two grandchildren, Gabriel Strine and Jonathan Strine; one great-grandchild, Acacia Korsanwall; and one brother, John F. Covert of Attica.
She also was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Fiette Korsanwall; her sister, Beatrice M. Featherengill; and one brother, Anson Covert.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 16, 2013, at Denbow-Primm-Kemery Funeral Home, 313 Center St., Ashland, OH 44805, (419) 281-2566, with the Rev. Sanford C. Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Ashland County Memorial Park.
Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
