Gary L. Schuster

Gary L. Schuster, 63, of Huron, passed away peacefully early Wednesday afternoon, Nov. 6, 2013, at his home, surrounded by his family whom he loved.

He was born Sept. 15, 1950, in Sandusky, son of the late John Richard and Dorothy Jane (McElheny) Schuster. He married Susan Kay (Napka) March 15, 1980.

Gary was a 1968 graduate of Sandusky High School. Throughout the years, he had worked for Sandusky Machine & Tool and later at New Departure Hyatt (Division of General Motors). In 1980, Gary went on to work at Industrial Nut Corp. as their corporate pilot and head of sales. Gary’s love for flying began at the young age of 15 and he especially loved his time at Griffing Airport over the years.

He loved spending time with his family and racing. Gary was a BMW high performance racing driving instructor. He also was a member of Erie County Conservation League and had his license to carry a concealed weapon. He was also a member of the AOPA (Aircraft Owners & Pilots Assoc.) and the Experimental Aircraft Assoc.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Susan; two sons, Matthew (Heather) Schuster of Dallas, Texas, and Ryan Schuster of Christiansburg, Va.; his faithful companion, “Zeus”; and his brother, Craig R. (Theresa) Schuster of Lexington, Ky.

Besides his parents, he also was preceded in death by a sister, Janet Ann Schuster.

Visitation will be 9 a.m. until the time of his funeral at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 9, 2013, at Emmanuel United Church of Christ, 334 Columbus Ave., Sandusky. The Rev. Paul F. Stengel will be officiating. Burial will follow at Meadow Green Memorial Park, Huron.
