George Frederick Dutt II
George Frederick Dutt II, 82, died Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Tiffin, to Roller Erhart Dutt and Jennie Arthur Dutt. He married Janet Kathryn Funk Dutt June 9, 1956, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Tiffin, and she survives in Tiffin.
He is also survived by a son, Laurence Lynn Dutt of Tiffin, and a daughter, Laura Lisabeth Marsh of Alhambra, Calif.
A celebration of life will be at 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at the AMVETS, Tiffin.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Sandridge Cemetery, Bascom, with the Rev. Hannah Tucker officiating.

George Frederick Dutt II
George Frederick Dutt II, 82, former principal at Washington Elementary School, Tiffin, passed away Friday, Sept. 27, 2013, at his residence.
He was born June 4, 1931, in Tiffin, to Roller Erhart Dutt and Jennie Arthur Dutt. He is survived by his wife, Janet Kathryn Funk Dutt, whom he married June 9, 1956, at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Tiffin.
He also is survived by his son, Laurence Lynn Dutt of Tiffin, and his daughter, Laura Lisabeth Marsh of Alhambra, Calif.
George graduated in 1949 from Columbian High School. In 1953, he received a bachelor of arts degree from Heidelberg College where he was a member of the Heidelberg Society. He received a master of arts in 1957 and a specialist in education degree in 1967 from Bowling Green State University. His education credentials also included membership in the Ohio Education Association and a life membership in the National Education Association.
He taught sixth grade at Noble Elementary School for three years and then one year at Washington Elementary School before becoming the principal of Washington Elementary School for 34 years. He retired in 1991 and continued operating a real estate rental business along with his wife.
He was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church where he served as the first president of the Partners in Faith Adult Church School Class and was also a former member of the official board of the church.
Mr. Dutt was a Republican committeeman, vice chairman of the Seneca County Republican Central Committee, a member of the Seneca County Century Club and clerk and president of Tiffin City Council. He received the Outstanding Young Man Award from the Junior Chamber of Commerce in 1966.
He had been president of Heidelberg Seneca County Alumni Association and was a member of the Heidelberg Fellows Organization. He was also a life member of Tiffin Elks Lodge 94. He was president of Mohawk Golf Club for two terms when the new clubhouse was built. He also belonged to the Cotillion Club, Seneca County Parkinson’s Support Group, Zenobia Shrine, Tiffin Lodge F&AM, Tiffin Hornets, and was a life member of Columbian Alumni Association.
He was also a member of the Seneca County Genealogical Society and a silver member of the First Families of Seneca County, having descended from Frederick Roller, who came to Tiffin circa 1845. He was also a life member of the Hancock County Historical Preservation Guild.
A celebration of life will take place 2-4 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 2, 2013, at AMVETS Post No. 48, Tiffin.
Burial will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 4, at Sand Ridge Cemetery, Bascom, with the Rev. Hannah Tucker officiating.
