Ronald E. Von Blon

Ronald E. Von Blon, 73, of South CR 19, Tiffin, died at 4:25 p.m. Friday, March 29, 2013, at home.

He was born Aug. 15, 1939, in Wyandot County, to Clarence and Dorothy (Curlis) Von Blon. He married Judith R. (McDaniel) Oct. 24, 1964, and she survives.

Surviving are two children, Ted E. Von Blon of rural Tiffin and Eric (Elizabeth) Von Blon of Ann Arbor, Mich.; two granddaughters, Ashley and Keira Von Blon; one brother, Larry (Jean) Von Blon of Bellville; a niece, Sarah Von Blon; a nephew, Bradley Von Blon; and many cousins.

He was preceded in death by a stepmother, Helen (Landis) Von Blon, in addition to his parents.

He was a 1957 graduate of Sycamore High School and a 1961 graduate of Tiffin University. He was a member of the former Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Tiffin. He also served in the U.S. Army and the Ohio National Guard.

He was employed with Earl J. Crane from 1961-1975, and then worked for Bowman Implement, Findlay, from 1975-1981. In 1981, he started Taylor Rental, which now is Grand Rental Station, Tiffin, which he owned with his wife, Judith.

He was a member of Grand Lodge of F&AM of Ohio, Tiffin Lodge No. 77, DeMolay Commandery No. 9 Knights Templar, Tiffin, Grand Chapter of Royal Arch Masons of Ohio, Seneca Chapter No. 42, Tiffin, Grand Council Royal and Select Masons of Ohio, Clinton Council 47, Zenobia Shriners, Perrysburg, Tiffin Shrine Club and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Toledo.

He was a former member and president of Tiffin Historic Trust, a member of Lincoln Zephyr Owners Club, The Vintage Thunderbird Club and was a charter member of Tiffin Optimist Club.

A funeral for Ron will be 11 a.m. Thursday, April 4, 2013, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with the Rev. Scott Hayward officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore, where Sycamore American Legion Post No. 250 will conduct a military graveside service.

Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Tiffin Masonic Lodge No. 77 will conduct a Masonic service at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
