Ronald L. Bain

Ronald L. Bain, age 54, of Marengo, died Friday morning, March 22, 2013, at Grady Memorial Hospital Emergency Room.

He was born Aug. 23, 1958, in Tiffin to the late Gerald Bain and Evelyn (Youngpeter) Bain Gerstenberger of Findlay.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Laura (Sims) Bain and they were married Oct. 16, 1982, in Columbus; two daughters, Valerie (Brad McCarty) Bain of Columbus and Allison Bain of Marengo; a son, Stephen Bain of Marengo; two brothers, David (Bonnie) Bain of Fremont and Ritchie (Susie) Bain of Brooklyn, Mich.; two sisters, Jennifer Bain Noggle of Findlay and Lisa (Martin) Richmond of Bradenton, Fla.

He was a 1976 graduate of Mohawk High School and a 1981 graduate of Ohio University. He was a retired U.S. Army Battalion Executive Officer with the rank of major. He was also a Solutions Specialist II for the PC Mall. He was a member of the Kilbourne United Methodist Church, where he was a lay leader, choir member and on several committees.

Ronald loved his church, God and spent time studying the Bible and teaching Sunday school. He enjoyed woodworking, playing euchre, Elvis songs, rooting for the Cleveland Indians and the Cleveland Browns. Ronald was a survivor of the Oklahoma City bombing and received the Soldier’s Medal due to his heroic actions following the bombing, the second highest award for a noncombat soldier.

Friends may call one hour prior to the memorial service at 5 p.m. Monday at the Kilbourne United Methodist Church with Pastor Carol McCartney officiating. Following the services there will be a meal and time of fellowship and remembrance at the church.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Kilbourne United Methodist Church.
