Violet M. Driftmeyer

Violet M. Driftmeyer, 100, went to be with her Lord Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, surrounded by her loving family, at Genoa Care Center.

Violet was born July 20, 1912, in Jerusalem Township, to William and Cora (Gillmore) Amsler. One of Violet’s highlights in her life was being named head cashier of the year at Foodtown where she worked. Violet was very proud to be the oldest member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church where she enjoyed working with the ladies of the church. In her spare time she enjoyed reading, fishing, gardening and flowers. She also was blessed with many talents and her meals she prepared were enjoyed by many. Violet’s greatest treasures were her grandchildren and her family.

Surviving are two children, Carolyn (Dale) Driftmeyer and Bonnie (Jerry) Lentz; sister-in-law, Leona Arnold; four grandchildren, David and Amy Driftmeyer, Greg Lentz and Anne Kelly; and four great-grandchildren, David Jr., Cora, Dustin Driftmeyer and Drew Kelly.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Melvin; two sons, Lee and Paul; three brothers, Ray, Lloyd and Fred; and four sisters, Ella, Bessie, Bonnie and Ethel.

Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 20 S. Yondota Road, Curtice, where family will greet friends beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Violet’s memory are asked to consider St. Luke’s Lutheran Church or Lutheran Home of Mercy, Williston.
