Richard H. Parker

Richard H. Parker, age 86, of McCutchenville, died at 5:50 a.m., Saturday, Feb. 16, 2013, at home. He was born Oct. 30,1926, in Tiffin, to Henry and Helen (Widmer) Parker. He married Joan (Phillips) Parker on Dec. 1, 1951 in St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin and she survives.

Also surviving are the following children, Gary (Susan) Parker, McCutchenville, Janet (Ray) Wagner, Tiffin, and Joe (Denise) Parker, McCutchenville; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren; one brother, Frank (Mary) Parker, McCutchenville; and two sisters, Dorothy Walter, Carey, and Betty (Glen ) Fogle, McCutchenville.

Richard was preceded in death by one son, Dan Parker, who died on Oct. 1, 1999, and one brother, Robert Parker, besides his parents.

Richard was a retired owner of Parker Bros. Painting, McCutchenville. He was a member of All Saints Parish, New Riegel. He was a World War II Navy veteran serving from 1944-1946. He was a member of New Riegel American Legion Post No. 354. He at one time was fire chief and a member of the McCutchenville Fire Department for 25 yrs. He also was a founding member instrumental in starting the McCutchenville Ball Park. He also was a member of LST (Navy Landing Ship Tank). He also belonged to the Stockbusters II stock club.

For hobbies he loved to go fishing in Canada and Michigan with his good friend Dick Hayman. He also loved to watch his grandchildren and follow them around to all their sporting and school events.

A Mass of Christian burial for Richard will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 21, 2013, at St. Nicholas Chapel-Frenchtown with the Rev. Timothy Kummerer officiating. Burial will follow at McCutchenville Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 3-8 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 20, 2013, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, and also from 9:45-10:45 a.m., Thursday at the church in Frenchtown. The rosary will be recited 15 minutes prior to mass.
