Thomas Richard Dell
Thomas Richard Dell, 71, passed away Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital-WNJ of Sherman, Texas.
Thomas was born in Tiffin to Joseph Dell and Thelma Weaver Dell. He was a graduate in the class of 1959 from Calvert High School, Tiffin. He then graduated from DeVry Technical Institute, Chicago, Ill., in 1964. Thomas served in the Ohio Army National Guard.
He married Margaret Kastner Oct. 31, 1964, in Tiffin. Thomas was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He loved to spend time cooking and woodworking.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, and served on the school board for St. Mary’s Catholic School. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1289 as a Third Degree Knight and the Knights of Columbus Council No. 1601 as a Fourth Degree Knight. Thomas also was a soccer coach for the Texoma Soccer Association and a Sherman Youth League baseball coach.
Thomas was preceded in death by his parents; son, Matthew Dell; brother, Frederick Dell; sister, Lois Juby; brother-in-law, Joseph Juby; and brother-in-law Rene Dubois.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Margaret; three sons, Joseph (Gretchen) Dell of Sherman, Nicholas (Suzanne) Dell of Keller, Texas, and David Dell of Sherman; two daughters, Monica Dell and Catherine Dell, both of Sherman; four grandchildren, Jacob and Jonathan Dell and Emma and Connor Dell; a sister, Jettie Dubois of Carey; a brother, Maxwell Marie Dell of Tiffin; and numerous nieces and nephews.
His funeral will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 17, 2013, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Sherman, Texas, with the Rev. Antonio Aureus officiating, assisted by Deacon Tomas Avila. His Mass of Christian burial will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery, Sherman.
Pallbearers will be men from the Knights of Columbus, 3rd degree. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Dell, Nicholas Dell, David Dell, Jacob Dell, Michael VanSant and Raymond Smith.
Deacon Albert Miller will recite the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 16, at Dannel Funeral Home chapel, 302 S. Walnut St., Sherman, TX 75090, (903) 893-1171, with visitation to follow at 7 p.m.
