Helen Jane Weller

Helen Jane Weller, 92, of Tiffin, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013, at Volunteers of America, Autumnwood Care Center. She resided there since her husband Robert’s death in 2005.

Helen was born at home in Sycamore, Jan. 18, 1921, to Della (Barton) Koehl and Fred G. Koehl. She married Robert L. Weller on Nov. 25, 1944, in St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin.

Survivors include two daughters, Julie (Sid) Sink of Bowling Green and Jayne (Jeff) Loudenslager of Hilliard; four grandchildren, Nathan (Jaime) Nitecki of Tiffin, and Jason (Heather) Loudenslager, Jenni (Russ) Payne and Joe Loudenslager, all of Hilliard; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Along with her parents, Helen was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years; two infant sons; daughter, Janet (Weller) Young; sister Louise Levee; and a great granddaughter, Ava Nitecki.

She graduated from Sycamore High School in 1939 and from Toledo Beauty School, Toledo. After graduating from Beauty School, Helen moved to Tiffin and was employed at the Styl-Art Beauty Salon on South Washington Street. Soon afterward she bought the salon from the retiring owner and continued to work there until she became a full-time mother and homemaker. She also worked for her husband at the Bowl O Drome Bowling Alley that he co-owned in Tiffin for several years before selling it. She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church and also Ladies Auxiliary Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie No. 402. Raising their three daughters was her greatest joy in life. She also delighted in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, even into her later years when her memory was impaired, she so enjoyed their presence. As her children left home, she found a hobby in collecting various glassware and collectables. She enjoyed the social aspect and all the friends she made at local flea markets in Bowling Green and Perrysburg. She had great compassion for all and was caregiver to many elderly relatives. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Autumnwood Care Center; especially the staff on Freedom Hall. The compassionate care she received there for eight years was exceptional and we can never thank them enough.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church with the Rev. Michael Roemmele officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery.
