Gertrude Puesey, 92, of Tiffin, passed away Sunday evening, Jan. 27, 2013, at St. Francis Nursing Home, Tiffin.
She was born May 22, 1920, in Tiffin, to Robert and Clara (Schetter) Hayward. She married W. Lowell Puesey Aug. 5, 1939, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tiffin, and he preceded her in death Aug. 15, 1984.
Survivors include two sons, William L. (Diane) Puesey of Tiffin and Franklin H. (Margaret) of Bradford, England; one daughter, Judy Koch of Tiffin; daughter-in-law, Barb Trapp of Tiffin; 11 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Gertrude was preceded in death by her parents; an infant son; son, David, in 2002; an infant daughter; three brothers, Richard, Robert and Franklin Hayward; a great-grandchild; and son-in-law, Richard Koch, in 2004.
Gertrude was a clerk at J.C. Penney, retiring after 18 years in 1982. She belonged to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary No. 2858 and the Daughters of Isabella at St. Mary Catholic Church. She traveled to England three times to see her son and family and took yearly trips to Marietta. She enjoyed driving up to the lake on weekends, reading and playing bingo. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
Her Mass of Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 31, 2013, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Tiffin, with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Tiffin. A rosary will be prayed 20 minutes prior to Mass.
Friends may visit with the family 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 30, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-2424. A Christian wake service will begin at 1:30 p.m.
