Tiffin man found guilty of sex-related crimes

A Tiffin man was found guilty of sex-related crimes during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley’s courtroom Friday afternoon.

Craig R. Ranker, 34, entered no-contest pleas with a consent to finding of guilty to charges of sexual battery, unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and gross sexual imposition, third-degree felonies; attempted sexual battery, a fourth-degree felony; and sexual imposition, a third-degree misdemeanor.

Kelbley found him guilty of the charges.

The joint sentence recommendation is he would serve seven years and four months in prison. He would be classified as a Tier III sex offender, subject to community notification.

One of the victims was a teenager, and the other was younger than 13, according to his indictment.

Tiffin Police Department had received a report about an incident from Seneca County Department of Job and Family Services. It occurred at Ranker’s residence at 28 Virginia Ave., court records state.

Sentencing is Feb. 26.
