Convention topic at fair board meeting
Seneca County Fair Board convened for its first meeting of 2019 at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
Board members who participated in the 2019 fair convention shared casual and professional takeaways from the event – citing itinerary items, meal quality and new ideas for the county fair, leading to several suggestion sessions throughout the meeting.
The most touched-on event areas consisted of hiring advertising companies to push the Seneca County Fair, using pre-paid event packages by professional entertainment companies, hosting traveling circuses or sideshows and taking a Facebook poll to gauge overall interest in prospective fair attractions.
New Junior Fair Coordinator Emily Gilliland offered updated contact and financial information before sharing several ideas by newly-elected Junior Fair officers and members – a petting zoo, free tractor rides and a live birth/egg-hatch watch.
Additional information included a pancake sausage meal and sale March 13, a gun show with Izaak Walton League Jan. 19-20 and Junior Fair’s Super Sunday Supper 4-7 p.m. April 7.
