Jim Jordan seeks minority leader post
Rep. Jim Jordan, R-Urbana, a leader of the conservative House Freedom Caucus, announced Wednesday he plans to challenge House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, R-California, for the House minority leader position.
According to a news release, Jordan announced the move during an interview with Hill.TV hours after Republicans lost control of the House in Tuesday’s general election.
Jordan represents Ohio’s 4th Congressional district, which includes Seneca County. According to unofficial results from Tuesday’s general election, he won his re-election bid against Democrat Janet Garrett with 164,640 votes, or about 65.41 percent of the vote.
