Woman injured in South SR 4 accident

ATTICA — A woman was injured in a two-vehicle accident on South SR 4 Wednesday afternoon.

Trooper Margaret Clay of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Sydney Vaughn, 19, of Bloomville, was traveling south on South SR 4 in a 2009 Dodge Caliber. Sgt. Kent Jeffries of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Sarah E. Hosang, 19, of Bellevue, was traveling south on South SR 4 in a 2012 Chevrolet Malibu. Vaughn slowed to turn right into a private drive, was struck in the rear by the Malibu and was pushed about 275 feet before coming to a rest in the road, he said.

Jeffries said Vaughn was transported by Bloomville EMS to Avita Health System-Bucyrus Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Hosang was cited with assured clear distance ahead, he said.

Clay said both drivers were wearing their seatbelts.

Traffic was slowed to one lane on South SR 4 while crews worked at the scene.

The accident was reported at 4:39 p.m. and Bloomville EMS, Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District, the Echo unit, State Highway Patrol and D&D Total Repair responded to the scene.
