FORT SENECA — A cargo box truck rolled onto its side on SR 53, north of Fort Seneca, Thursday morning.

Trooper Ethan Branham of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Mason E. Monroe, 27, of Michigan, was delivering produce in a 2004 GMC.

Monroe, who was driving south on SR 53, said traffic began to slow in front of him, and he swerved to the right to avoid striking a vehicle in the rear, Branham said.

The truck went off the right side of the road, struck a ditch, drove through lawns and tipped onto its driver’s side.

Branham said he drove by right after it had happened, and Monroe climbed out the passenger side.

He said Monroe was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt. Monroe was cited with failure to control, he said.

Personnel from North Central EMS and Old Fort Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 10:35 a.m.
