Meter upgrades top council businesses
REPUBLIC — Boy Scout Wyatt Young, accompanied by his grandmother Vy, attended Republic’s council meeting Monday evening to acquire his Communication Badge from Troop 406 in Mount Carmel.
Members discussed the replacing of water and electric meters since being refused for a grant to upgrade them. Councilman Kevin Thompson noted the American Legion electric bills have been extremely high. The village is going to examine the organization’s monthly billing history for comparisons.
Council also discussed erecting the organizational signs for the corporation limits. Plans include a “Welcome to Republic” header.
In other business, council:
• Heard that all funds total $2,018,365.12 with $600,000 of that invested.
• Learned rumble strips are to be added to SR 18, SR 19 and SR 67 Sept. 12.
• Announced the water tower is to be inspected Sept. 21.
• Heard the Public Entity Pool Dishonesty Insurance coverage on the village’s U.S. Department of Agriculture loan was increased by $150 annually.
Council is to meet at 7 p.m. Sept. 17.
