Brown endorses Rachel Crooks for state representative

U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced his endorsement of Ohio House of Representatives candidate Rachel Crooks. Crooks is the Democratic candidate challenging incumbent Bill Reineke for the 88th House District, which includes all of Sandusky County and a majority of Seneca County.

“Rachel Crooks is exactly the type of candidate we need in the Ohio legislature,” Brown stated in a release. “She will stand up for the people she serves, and fight to bring an end to the culture of corruption at the Statehouse. Rachel will work to expand opportunity in northwest Ohio and to give all Ohioans a voice in Columbus.”

“I am thrilled to earn the endorsement of Senator Brown, who is a true champion for all Ohioans,” Crooks stated. “Throughout his career, he has consistently been a progressive leader who fights for working families across the state.”

State gives dates for archery, gun seasons for hunting deer

COLUMBUS (AP) — Ohio’s archery season for hunting white-tailed deer begins later this month, while gun season for deer hunting begins in November.

The Ohio Department of Natural Resources says the archery season begins Sept. 29 and continues through Feb. 3, 2019.

State officials say gun seasons for deer hunters will be Nov. 26 through Dec. 2 and Dec. 15 and 16. Muzzleloader season will be Jan. 5 through Jan. 8, 2019.

The statewide bag limit is six deer with only one antlered deer allowed regardless of location or method of take. Deer bag limits are determined by county, and hunters cannot exceed counties’ bag limit.

Deer hunting hours are 30 minutes before sunrise to 30 minutes past sunset for all deer hunting seasons.
