SUV rolls on SR 587 near Fostoria
FOSTORIA — A Findlay woman believed to be impaired rolled her sport utility vehicle on SR 587 Monday evening, according to law enforcement agencies.
The Fremont post of State Highway Patrol identified the driver as Elizabeth A. Cartagena, 44.
Trooper Christopher Kiefer said Cartagena was driving a 1999 Dodge sport utility vehicle south on SR 587 when she failed to negotiate a curve and lost control. The SUV went off the left side of the road and rolled one and a half times, landing on its driver’s side, he said.
Kiefer said it was unknown whether Cartagena was wearing a seatbelt. She was unable to get out of the vehicle, and the fire department helped her through the front windshield, he said.
He said Cartagena was taken by ambulance to ProMedica Fostoria Community Hospital, and he did not know the extent of her injuries.
Kiefer said Cartagena was going to be cited with failure to control and charged with operating a vehicle while intoxicated. She failed a sobriety test at the scene and was believed to be impaired, he said.
Personnel from Bascom EMS, Bascom Joint Fire District and State Highway Patrol responded to the accident, which was reported about 5 p.m.
