Seneca County inmate injured in jump

An inmate at Seneca County Jail was injured Sunday afternoon.

Sgt. James Cholodewitsch of Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said an inmate voluntarily jumped over a second-tier railing. The man, who’s name was not released Sunday evening, had been in Seneca County Jail just more than a week, he said.

Cholodewitsch said the man was transported by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division to Mercy Health — Tiffin Hospital and then was taken to Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center.

The incident was under investigation Sunday, he said.

The incident occurred about 1:40 p.m. and Tiffin Fire Rescue Division and Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
