Ritz Theatre first to update sign with grant
The Ritz Theatre has received a Sign Enhancement Grant, the first to be awarded since implemented by the city of Tiffin.
The grant — in the amount of $1,000 — was provided through the Architectural Board of Review. The grant is a 50 percent reimbursement of expenses directly related to perpendicular signage on properties within the downtown target area, according to a release provided by Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp.
The funds awarded to The Ritz — located at 30 S. Washington St. — is to go toward upgrading the lighting of their sign, marquee and downlight to the long-life and cost saving LED equivalents, while retaining the vintage look of the theatre.
“We are very excited to have this opportunity provided by the city of Tiffin,” Michael Strong, executive director of The Ritz, said. “We are very thankful to the city for being a part of this program.”
“I am pleased to see The Ritz Theatre taking advantage of the program and I encourage any other downtown business looking to upgrade their signage to apply,” Tiffin Mayor Aaron Montz said in the release.
