Ontario man injured in accident

A man was injured in an accident at SR 100 and CR 16 Thursday evening.

Trooper Donte Hanns of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Bobby Ritchie, 78, of Bloomville, was traveling south on SR 100 in a GMC Terrain and Frederick Todd, 54, of Ontario, was traveling north on SR 100 in a 2003 Honda Civic. Ritchie turned left at CR 16 and struck the Honda, and the Honda struck a road sign and stop sign before going off the northeast corner of the intersection and coming to a rest, he said.

Hanns said Todd was transported by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Ritchie was cited with right of way when turning left, he said.

Hanns said both drivers were wearing seatbelts.

The accident was reported at 7:41 p.m. and Tiffin Fire Rescue Division, Sycamore Volunteer Fire, State Highway Patrol and John’s Welding and Towing responded to the scene.
