Man charged with domestic violence

GREEN SPRINGS — A Green Springs man was charged with domestic violence Tuesday.

Nico Phanthavong, 25, was charged with domestic violence, according to the Seneca County Jail.

According to a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office report, deputies responded to 8200 E. CR 62 Tuesday evening.

Lt. Brian Hescht of Seneca County Sheriff’s Office said deputies responded to a report of a physical domestic violence incident. He said the incident stemmed from an argument earlier in the day and became physical.

After a woman in the house called 911, the man pulled out a knife and threated to cut himself, Hescht said. He said deputies used a Taser on Phanthavong after he was told to drop the knife and began to cut himself.

Hescht said Phanthavong sustained superficial wounds and was transported to The Bellevue Hospital and later was transported to Seneca County Jail.

The incident was reported at 4:36 p.m. and Seneca County Sheriff’s Office and North Central EMS responded to the scene. Republic EMS, the Echo unit and Life Flight were put on standby but did not respond to the scene, according to a Seneca County Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman.
