First show

Debut concert at East Green this evening

A park in Tiffin that is to be the home of a summer concert series is to open its doors for the first time tonight.

According to a news release, the East Green Amphitheater opens with the debut performance of a concert series.

The first concert is sponsored by National Machinery while the concert series is sponsored by Laminate Technologies and Reineke Family Dealerships.

The free event, which begins at 8 p.m., will feature two musical performances. Atlanta singer/songwriter Prisca leads off the program, followed by Philadelphia singer/songwriter, live-looper and multi-instrumentalist Brian Fitzy.

According to Prisca’s website, she performs soul/pop music. She has written for Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, Jessie McCartney and for television shows such as “The Voice” and “American Idol.” Prisca shared the stage with Kelly Clarkson on her Piece by Piece tour and topped the charts with “Kamikaze,” a No. 1 hit on iTunes.

The release states Fitzy graduated from West Chester University with a degree in classical instrumental performance on violin. After college, Fitzy performed with the Foo Fighters at the Grammy Awards as a finalist in the “My Grammy Moment” competition.

National Machinery CEO Andrew Kalnow, who was the primary contributor to creation of East Green, said the concert will occur “rain or shine.”

Tonight’s concert is the first of seven concerts to be held at East Green. At 7 p.m. July 14, local band Rusty Vinyl will perform.
