Brown announces loan for fire district
WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown, D-Ohio, announced Tuesday the United States Department of Agriculture awarded a $2,047,000 Rural Development loan to the Bascom Joint Fire District to construct a new fire rescue facility that will replace the current building.
The funds are to help the Bascom Joint Fire District continue to serve Bascom as well as Hopewell, Liberty, Loudon and Jackson townships, the release states.
The funds for the new facility are a part of the USDA’s Rural Development initiative. Brown helped secure a strong Rural Development title in the 2014 Farm Bill and is continuing to advocate for Rural Development programs in the 2018 Farm Bill, the release states.
