Driver confronts pedestrians in altercation

An assault was reported on Jefferson Street Saturday night.

Officer Justin Nowak of Tiffin Police Department said a group of people involved in a bar crawl were crossing an intersection and a motorist who was traveling on East Perry Street was aggravated at the amount of time it was taking the group to cross. The driver pulled to the side of the road, got out of his vehicle and exchanged words with the group, he said. Nowak said this led to a physical altercation with multiple people involved.

He said a person was alleged to have brandished a knife, but whether a knife was drawn was undetermined Sunday night.

Nowak said a 52-year-old man was transported by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The names of those involved were not released Sunday night.

Nowak said the incident was under investigation Sunday night and charges were pending.

The incident was reported at 11:01 p.m. and Tiffin Police Department and Tiffin Fire Rescue Division responded to the scene.
