Woman admits fabricating report

Chaney

A Tiffin woman admitted Wednesday she fabricated a robbery report.

Chelsa M. Chaney, 26, pleaded guilty to charges of theft and falsification in a theft offense, fifth-degree felonies, during a hearing in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Steve Shuff’s courtroom.

Tiffin Police Department had responded to Denny’s, 315 W. Market St., for a report of a robbery March 19.

Chaney, a manager, reported a man had robbed her and fled on foot, court records state.

She later admitted she took the money, totaling $2,046.45, from the bank deposit bag, they state.

Police recovered $616.

Chaney’s case was referred for a pre-sentence investigation report.

The joint recommendation is she serve a three-year term of community control under the supervision of the drug intensive probation officer.

Chaney would undergo a minimum of twice-weekly drug and alcohol urinalysis, complete the Participating in Victory of Transition program and receive medication-assisted treatment.
