TCS board to meet today at middle school

The Tiffin City Board of Education is to meet at 7 p.m. today at Tiffin Middle School, 103 Shepherd Drive.

Hospital foundation to host dinner,

program on prostate cancer awareness

The Mercy Health Foundation – Tiffin, together with the Prostate Cancer Awareness Fund of the Tiffin Community Foundation, is to sponsor a Prostate Cancer Awareness program and dinner at 6 p.m. May 15 at Wickham Great Hall on the campus of Heidelberg University.

The presentation is to feature Dr. Thomas Zaciewski, a specialist in urology at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital, and Dan Cummins, the Emmy Award-winning sports director for WTOL 11 TV.

Tickets cost $5 per person and require reservations.

NAMI offers mental illness support groups

National Alliance on Mental Illness offers support groups in Tiffin, called Family and Friends, which meets 2-3:30 p.m. the first Tuesday of the month at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital and 3-4:30 p.m. the third Tuesday of the month at Tiffin-Seneca Public Library.

May 2 seminar planned for caregivers

A Caregiver Survival Tip seminar is set for 6 p.m. May 2 at St. Francis Home, 182 St. Francis Ave. Those who attend can learn how to make caregiving easier and how to get support. For more information or to register, call (419) 443-1540 by May 1.

Tiffin native honored with volunteer award

Lois Payne of Tiffin was recognized with the Volunteer of the Quarter Award at Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital.

Payne has been a volunteer for years, giving her time in the give shop. She has a sense of compassion toward others and is able to offer kind words to those in need.

The Volunteer Excellence award is presented each quarter and then annually to a volunteer who is nominated by either a fellow volunteer or Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital employee. The award was created to recognize a volunteer who goes above and beyond the requirements of their assignment and reflects the mission and core values of Mercy Health.
