A refrigerated truck delivering ice cream struck the North Washington Street viaduct Wednesday morning.

Officer Scott McDole of Tiffin Police Department said Robert A. Shurney Jr., 35, of Cleveland, was driving a 2013 International south. Shurney had made a delivery to Circle K at Sixes Corners and was headed to Circle K on Melmore Street, McDole said.

He said Shurney was cited with failure to follow a truck route. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not hurt, he said.

McDole had been watching traffic from a parking lot at Washington Street and Frost Parkway when he heard the impact. The accident was called in about 11:20 a.m. by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division, which also had been in the area.

Tiffin Fire Rescue Division, Tiffin’s Public Works Department and John’s Welding & Towing assisted at the scene.

North Washington Street was closed between Hudson Street and Frost Parkway and reopened about noon.
