One hurt when truck hits house
A person was injured when a truck struck a house at 7517 W. SR 18 Friday morning.
Sgt. Mike Walter of the Fremont post of State Highway Patrol said Samantha Newlove, 28, of Fostoria, was traveling west on West SR 18 in a 2017 Ford Escape with Jeanette Zavala, 24, of Fostoria. Newlove lost control of the vehicle, went off the north side of the road and struck a house and a bush, he said.
Walter said Zavala was transported by Bascom EMS to Mercy Health – Tiffin Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Newlove was cited with operating without reasonable control, he said.
Everyone was wearing their seatbelts, Walter said.
The property is owned by Stephen Coppus, according to the Seneca County Auditor’s Office website.
Chief Mark DeVault of Bascom Joint Fire District said the accident didn’t make the residence unhabitable, but there still was some damage to the house. The vehicle was totaled, he said.
The accident was reported at 9:08 a.m. and Bascom EMS, Bascom Joint Fire District, State Highway Patrol responded to the scene.
