Board presents levy information

REPUBLIC — Bloom-Scipio Joint Ambulance District board members met Wednesday evening at the Republic firehouse to discuss the 1.54-mill levy to be placed on the Nov. 7 ballot. The levy would generate $139,226 annually from property taxes and would provide a stipend for EMTs and salary for the treasurer.

If the levy passes, the owner of a $100,000 home would pay $53.90 a year.

Members met Oct. 11 to determine the information to be placed on postcards to be sent to all district voters. Costs for creating the cards were $270 and postage totaled $344.97. A third party donated the funds to cover the expense.

Both squads have three candidates in training to become EMTs and each squad has one individual who just finished training and will soon be taking their tests to qualify.

The squads desire to improve their communication for future runs if the levy passes.

The ambulance district board is to meet at 7 p.m. Nov. 22.
