Traffic was down to one lane after a two-vehicle accident on North Sandusky Street at Tiffin’s city limits Thursday morning.

Officer Scott McDole of Tiffin Police Department said Richard L. Benfer, 67, of Sycamore, was driving a 2017 Nissan Frontier, and Noah J. Davoli, 18, of Fostoria, was driving a 2014 Ford Escape.

Both were northbound, and the Nissan stopped for traffic because a vehicle ahead of him was going to turn into a driveway, McDole said.

Davoli looked over at a man mowing along the road, and by the time he turned back, he couldn’t stop in time, he said.

McDole said the drivers were wearing seatbelts and were not hurt. Davoli was cited with assured clear distance ahead, he said.

Personnel from Tiffin Fire Rescue Division assisted at the scene of the accident, which was reported at 11:10 a.m.
