Strong winds blew a semi onto its side on US 224, east of Attica, Tuesday evening.

A spokeswoman from the Norwalk post of State Highway Patrol said Mario DeLaTorre, 45, of Dallas, was driving a 2013 International ProStar. The cab and empty trailer rolled.

DeLaTorre was wearing a seatbelt, was not hurt and would not be cited due to the crash being weather-related, the spokeswoman said.

A crew from Wilcox Garage responded to the scene. Personnel from Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District and Willard EMS also assisted.

Chief Lonnie Jaynes of Attica-Venice-Reed Fire District said fuel was leaking, and firefighters were able to contain it before the truck lost much.

“We plugged the line,” he said.

Firefighters also tried to contain oil leaking from the engine.

US 224 was closed between Attica and Willard as crews worked at the scene. The crash was reported about 6:15 p.m., and the road reopened about 8:10 p.m.
