Crews fight rekindled house fire
Firefighters were summoned back to the scene of a house fire Tuesday morning.
The fire at 50 W. CR 6 was reported about 7:30 p.m., Monday, and more than 40 firefighters from Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department, Bloom Township Fire Department, McCutchenville Volunteer Fire Department, NBS Joint Fire District and Scipio-Republic Fire Department responded.
Personnel from Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue, NBS Joint Fire District and NBS EMS District went to the scene when the fire rekindled about 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
The rekindle occurred in a small bathroom area, said Chief Rodney Clinger of Sycamore Volunteer Fire and Rescue.
State Fire Marshal’s Office visited the site Tuesday morning.
Clinger said he believed the origin of the fire likely was in the kitchen area, and he was unable to determine a cause.
The house is owned by Anthony and Heidi Ramirez, according to the Seneca County Auditor’s Office website.
Clinger said the homeowners were not home at the time of the fire, and no one was hurt. Several family pets died, he said.
The Eden Township house and most of its contents were destroyed in the fire.
An account was set up at www.gofundme.com/ramirezhill-relief-fund to assist the families who lived in the house. The site has information about donating goods and money.
