"It is your time, enjoy every minute of it," Lillian Schumacher, TU's sixth president, said. "The faculty and staff are here for you and care about you and will challenge you." "This is the official opening of your academic journey," she said. Schumacher told new students to close their eyes and think of the sentence, "Nothing great was every achieved without … ." She suggested students remember that sentence when faced with challenges.
