Twist on devotion | Advertiser-Tribune PHILADELPHIA — Pilgrimage is an ancient tradition that continues today. A pilgrimage is a journey to a holy place, or in this case, to be near a holy person. Thursday morning, two chartered buses from Fremont and two from Maumee departed with 207 passengers on their pilgrimage to see Pope Francis in Philadelphia. They will join 125 others from the Toledo Diocese who left Monday. The pope is to arrive in the city Saturday to address crowds and preside at a public Mass Sunday. Bruce and JoAnn Alge signed up for the trip and invited JoAnn's mom, Dorothy Blum.
