OfficeMax founder to speak at TU

The School of Business of Tiffin University is to host a community lecture in September to feature how to grow a business through innovation.

The former founder and CEO of OfficeMax who now is founder and CEO of Max-Wellness, Michael Feuer is to be on campus to present, “How to Grow Your Business through Innovation” Sept. 3.

“We are incredibly fortunate to have Mr. Feuer come to Tiffin University,” James Padilla, dean of the School of Business at TU, said. “The opportunity to have someone of his stature present to our students, faculty, staff and community is tremendous.”

Feuer has over 35 years of experience as a corporate executive, CEO, entrepreneur, management consultant, venture capitalist, national award-winning syndicated columnist, speaker and author.

During his presentation, Feuer is to draw from his book “Tips from the Top,” which is to be published this fall.

“This talk is for anyone in the community wishing to grow a business in a small market such as Tiffin,” Bonnie Tiell, associate professor of sports management at TU, said. “We hope everyone will leave motivated and energized and for people to take away tips on how to grow their business in a small community market and possibly to further grow outside the community as well.”

For those interested, cost to attend is $10, which includes a copy of his 2011 book, “The Benevolent Dictator: Empower Your Employees, Build Your Business, and Outwit the Competition.”

Feuer also is to focus on the beginning of OfficeMax, which, according to his biography, began in 1988 with $20,000 of his own money. During his 16-year tenure as CEO, he helped expand the company to more than 1,000 stores worldwide and annual sales to some $5 billion.

The deadline to register is Friday. Tiell said registrations are to be accepted until the event, but no book is guaranteed.
