Bond set at $80K for Fremont man facing drug charges
A Fremont man was charged with several drug-related charges Monday in relation to an incident in February in which police discovered 22 baggies of crack cocaine in a vehicle.
Demond O. Cheeks, 40, was charged Monday in Tiffin-Fostoria Municipal Court with trafficking in drugs, tampering with evidence, possession of crack cocaine, resisting arrest and public indecency for an incident Feb. 25, according to court documents.
Fostoria police allegedly had witnessed Cheeks publicly urinating, and while Cheeks was being patted down, he had a brief struggle with police. After breaking free and running from an officer, Cheeks allegedly ran beside a vehicle and threw an item inside the passenger-side window. The item was found to be 22 individual baggies of suspected crack cocaine, according to court documents.
Cheeks, who was arrested Friday, appeared in court Tuesday, when his bond was set at $80,000.
