Vanguard-Sentinel to offer online courses
More than 300 non-credit online courses are to be offered through Vanguard-Sentinel Career and Technology Centers through a partnership with ed2go.
The venture is in the first two months, Adult Workforce Development Director Rosemary Krieger said. She said by offering the courses online the school now can offer more areas of study than they could with onsite courses.
“We needed to start to change with the times and to meet the needs of today’s people,” Krieger said. “At the time, we are not getting the numbers to hold courses onsite. Many aren’t able to make the drive here due to work and having families. We have to meet the needs of our 21st century learners.”
The courses can be accessed anywhere with an Internet connection 24/7, she said.
New sessions of each six-week course begins every month. Two lessons are available each week. Prices for the courses begin at $86, a price Krieger said is lower than other other ed2go users.
Courses offered include creating web pages, accounting fundamentals, speed Spanish, grant writing, medical terminology and real estate investing. New courses also are introduced each month, Krieger said.
Krieger said participants in the courses are to receive a certificate from Vanguard-Sentinel once a course is completed.
“I just want people to know that these online courses are available and to come and take advantage of them,” Krieger said. “There is sure to be something that fits everyone.”
