Mohawk seeks income tax levy renewal
SYCAMORE – The Mohawk Local School District is asking voters for their support of a five-year, 1 percent income tax renewal levy in May.
The tax is to generate $1.2 million annually, Superintendent Ken Ratliff said.
Funds generated are to go toward personnel, benefits, transportation, propane, electric, technology, textbooks and all instructional needs.
Ratliff said the levy is a renewal.
“We cannot operate without these funds,” he said. “It would be devastating to the district.”
So far the district is sending out mailings to registered voters, he said.
“It would not be feasible to operate without these funds,” he said. “We cannot keep cutting and offer reasonable services to the students.”
