Funds needed for summer meal program
FOSTORIA – Bob Evans is to host a fundraiser for Fostoria’s free community lunch program, Feed My Kids, 4-9 p.m. Thursday.
Last summer, the Feed My Kids program served more than 3,000 meals.
To help raise funds for the twice-a-week summer free meal program, bring in a Feed My Kids flyer and enjoy a meal or order takeout. Bob Evans then is to donate 15 percent of the sale ticket to the Feed My Kids lunch program at First Presbyterian Church.
Flyers are available at the church or by email at FeedMyKidsFostoria@yahoo.com.
For 17 years, Feed My Kids has complemented the weekly Sharing Kitchen to ensure no one goes hungry during the summer months when school is out. Volunteers are welcomed from many of the city’s churches and organizations. Each week, the meals are planned and trips to the West Ohio Food Bank and area vendors are made.
Volunteers start at 9:30 a.m. each Tuesday and Thursday to make food that is served from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Two years ago, the planning committee added a children’s library.
Started by a retired Fostoria teacher, Karen Knaur, the bulk of the library comes from donations from friends and family of the program. While children
wait for lunch, they can assemble puzzles and play games.
Anyone wishing to help with the program should contact the church by calling (419) 435-1884.
