Village to gain dollar store

BETTSVILLE – Dollar General soon will open a new store to serve Bettsville and the area.

Jaclyn Dees, communication specialist for Dollar General, said construction began in November and the location is projected to open this summer. The store is at 3939 SR 12, she said.

Construction is complete, she said, “all the way to the parking lot,” and installation of fixtures and placement of products are to follow in coming weeks.

The Bettsville Dollar General, Dees said, will be a “typical store,” with 7,200 square feet and merchandise similar to that of other locations.

She said 6-10 people will be hired at the store, depending on need, and will be “all local hires.”

Dees said she wasn’t sure whether employees at the new location would be new hires or include transfers from other stores.

Dees said the Bettsville location was chosen based on traffic patterns in the area, demographic trends, and, most importantly, “meeting customer needs.”

Dollar General seeks to provide a convenient shopping experience, she said, and tends to serve customers in a 3-5 mile radius of each store.
