Reineke to run for state

A business partner in Reineke Family Dealerships is to submit paperwork Monday to run as a Republican write-in candidate to represent the 88th House District.

According to a release, Bill Reineke is running to ensure the economic health of the 88th House District. It states he consistently and enthusiastically has supported Tiffin and Seneca County to make the community a better place to live and work.

“It is my intent to work as hard for the 88th district to ensure the proper representation that we deserve to promote economic growth,” he said in the release.

Reineke could not be reached for comment Saturday. A message was left Saturday night seeking comment about his decision to run after State Rep. Rex Damschroder, R-Fremont, who holds the seat, withdrew from the ballot due to a clerical error.

Reineke, who was raised in Fostoria, earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Morehead State University and is a 30-year resident of Tiffin.

According to the release, Reineke served as the chairman of Tiffin Area Chamber of Commerce in 1988 and 2009. He received the outstanding citizen award from the Chamber in 2010 and the Seneca Industrial and Economic Development Corp. outstanding business award in 2001.

He co-founded and is vice chairman of Tiffin Tomorrow. He is a 30-year member of Tiffin Rotary Club, is a past president of the club, received the 2008 Rotary Presidential Citation for outstanding service as president and received the 2004 Distinguished Service Award, the release states.
