Old Fort board OKs pursuit of grants
OLD FORT – Old Fort Board of Education met in special session to move forward with pursuing possible grant opportunities Thursday evening.
The board passed a resolution to participate in Local Government Innovation Fund grant applications pertaining to the sharing of services and other initiatives between Old Fort and Bettsville local school districts.
Treasurer Jaime Pearson said the grants could possibly raise $50,000. The money could be used for offsetting costs for the proposed transfer of territory between the two districts.
Pearson said that even if the transfer does not go through, the schools still could use the money to offset costs of shared services.
Members from the boards are to meet with a representative from the LGIF next week.
The board also passed a resolution to establish an athletic tournament fund.
The board entered into executive session to discuss negotiations with public employees. No action was taken.
The board is to meet at 5 p.m. March 11 at the school, 7635 N. CR 51.
